The 2025 Masters Indigenous Games (MIG) brought together over 500 athletes from across the globe for a vibrant celebration of sport, culture, and community. Hosted in Ottawa with great success, the Games showcased the incredible talent and resilience of Indigenous athletes while fostering connections across borders.

A Global Gathering

Athletes from five countries—Canada, the United States (including Alaska), Mexico, Greenland, and New Zealand—came together to compete in six sports. This international representation highlighted the unifying power of sport and the shared values of Indigenous communities worldwide.

A Thriving Marketplace

The Games were not just about competition; they also provided a platform for cultural exchange and economic growth. Eleven vendors showcased Indigenous crafts, food, and products, creating a bustling marketplace that celebrated creativity and entrepreneurship.

Entertainment and Media Spotlight

The cultural program was equally impressive, with 20 performers delivering unforgettable music, dance, and storytelling experiences. The Games also garnered significant media attention, with 26 pieces published, shining a spotlight on the athletes and the broader significance of the event.

Partnerships and Support

The 2025 MIG would not have been possible without the support of 25 dedicated partners. Their contributions ensured the success of the Games and helped provide funding for athletes through ISWO (Indigenous Sport & Wellness Ontario). The stories of perseverance and achievement from participating athletes are a testament to the importance of this support from local, national, and international partners.

Looking Ahead

The 2025 Masters Indigenous Games were a powerful reminder of the strength and beauty of Indigenous cultures. As we look forward to the next Games, we celebrate the athletes, performers, vendors, and partners who made this event unforgettable. Together, they’ve created a legacy of unity, pride, and excellence.
